I see the Zoo Med Large lamp stand only goes up to 36" are there any the are taller? I haven't been able to find them. I have a cement mix tray I'm gonna ve using for a baby tort and bought a brooder lamb. I have be testing the distance between the light(I'm testing with a regular 95w flood light cause my powersun has not arrived) and it seems I need it about 4' up to get the right temp. Maybe its because its a different time of light but it would seem I need a taller lamp. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome.
No, with a flood light you can not get a accurate reading, as it's made as lighting and nothing more,

You cannot get that stand any taller, but you could make your own as long as you use a ceramic bulb holder, or if you have a stand tall lamp for the house just clamp a clamp lamp on it..

As I have said in my other posts, I have a 150w full mercury UVA/B and a 250w ceramic heat lamp,
That is for one of my cages that is about 150cm long by 100cm wide and 120cm high,

Both the ceramic and the UV are about 80 cm from the floor and possibly 65/70cm from the torts. The UV light is in the middle and the ceramic is of to one side, they have hides at each end to choose from,

Don't panic just yet, what size power sun have you ordered?

A tort without UV for a couple of days will not do any harm,
I would wait till you get your bulb..

Good luck..:D

I think that a 100w will be enough, depending on height, ambient temps, where in the house he will be,

I don't know what your outdoor temps are where you are, so it's difficult to advise, I think it's a bit of hit and miss to begin with.

As I said mine are only 150w but then it barely goes below 7 celcuis in the winter

Something is amiss. Those bulbs are designed to be used approximately 18" away from the tortoise and substrate. From four feet away you shouldn't be registering ANY heat from a 95 watt flood bulb. Are you sure its not a spot bulb? I have a Powersun in an 80 degree room and I get a 100-105 degree basking spot at around 17" high. That's 17" from the lowest portion of the bulb to the flat rock directly under it.

It could be a spot bulb. But my powersun comes in on Monday so I will get to play with it all next week. I'm about 2-3 weeks from getting my Tort.

Use a thermometer with a remote probe, either wireless or wired, and let that be your guide for bulb height. I usually start wherever the manufacturer suggests and adjust from there. You can verify your temps with an infrared temp gun like the PE1.

Yeah I have a remote probe that I can easily move around the enclosure. Without a heat source I have constant temp of 70-75 and 40-45% humidity.
