I was cleaning my dbt tank and I noticed there were worms or something crawling on a piece of drift wood! They look like mosquito larva but they aren't. I don't know what they are...what should I do? How do I get rid of them?

are they harmless to my turtle?

If they preferred the wood and not the turtle's body, they are more likely harmless detritivores. Maybe Planaria, if not very clean tank. Don't bother with them.

No, they aren't termites..the drift wood is in the water..
I took the piece out and hopefully they will go away..
But how did they get in there???
I added some aquarium salt for the first time today, hoping it will kill them,

Any treatments I could use to get rid of those things for good?
Something like Melafix, or pimafix, or something!?!?
