Yes he got sick yesterday and died an hour ago.

No. He was acting lethargic yesterday and today.

He had the choking incident yesterday and then appeared fine for a couple of hours. He then came down with respiratory issues.

I'm thinking the bark might have punctured something that made it hard for him to breathe...

Sadly I am thinking the same thing some type of injury done by the bark.

The symptoms described a few days ago sounded to me like respiratory issues.

I've never seen a tortoise choke on something, do they gape their mouths and squeak when they are choking like they do with a respiratory illness?
