my projects are not species too species breeding projects, please pay attention too the thread instead of attacking me,you have already proven you don't like me or my opinions so give it a rest im not here too debate it!the downfalls of the pet trade speak for themselves check out the shelters and rescue watch the news see how animals are treated, debate the issue in the proper thread.for the record i don't know why you assume my projects have anything too do with the trade did i post a for sale ad no i did not nor will i these are my personal projects for me not for profit, and before you ask what i will do with my offspring its none of your buisiness the end

A guy had about 1/2 dozen "leop-catas" at the Reptile Show today...he was asking $1500 per and they weren't selling.

Sadly, there wasn't a single European tortoise except for WC Russians, going for about what Petco's getting for them.

I'm all for selling hatchlings for as much as you want, but even though none were selling I think some people might see what they're charging and think they can get a bunch of money for hybrids so they go and and start doing it. Mark my words in a few months or years we will be seeing A LOT of this and in different variations too.

Maybe those of us who breed "purebreds" can start charging premiums.

It won't stop as long as there's profit in it.shoud it be done is a huge debate.the debate is just talk though cause at the end of the day it can't be stopped.people on here have made comments about how can you be part of something your against, one called me bi polar.why because im not a fanatic, you can be part of something that you don't completely agree with.everyone on here is part of society do you all agree with every aspect of it,you all support your governments do you agree with all they do?do the phrase's openminded or free thought lite any bulbs out there.one person on here who i know is very knowledgeable, asked why do you assume people don't know what there talking about.I ask why i should assume that they do.i'm a show me kinda guy.

No wonder they weren't selling. For $1500 I could get a really nice blonde female (or 2) for Dozer  If they're going to even attempt to sell for that much then they need to give them a good flashy name...just like the designer dogs have :p

Were they at least nice looking? Could you tell they were a hybrid or did they look like one species versus the other?

I can think of only 2 tortoises I would spend 1500 on, an aldab or galap.

Or, perhaps an albino Hermann's...

A buddy went to the Reptile show late Sunday and he'd sold maybe one.

Cool lookng enough, looking like a leopard-patterned sulcata, but not THAT cool looking!

Certainly not $1500 worth!
