Here’s a picture from our drive way looking at the smoke from the Long Fire. It is just over the mountain and growing slowly. Yesterday they used numerous aircraft including 2 Hercules C130’s. I can’t help but think of the animals effected, right now there are no homes threatened.IMG_2065.jpeg

Thank You for the prayers, we are fighters and will fight with every breath we have to protect ALL of our Haven but a little help never hurts.
That's what I always think about when there is some kind of sad event like this, the animals.
There is no threat to you is there? Not likely to come over the mountain right?
So yesterday the fire grew from 160 acres to 1600 acres .... 24 hours 10 times larger give or take. The fire mapping might not of been done consistently. Yesterday they also dropped in their #1 and #2 Hot Shot Strike teams, this says a lot of what they think the fire will behave like. We are hoping it does not come over the Mountain but no guarantees this fire is starting to show it's ugly side. The fire was started by the Trout fire just a few miles north whose embers carried by the wind blew up against this mountain. We have enacted the CaneBrake Fire Dept., which is a Top Tier Redneck 4x4 fighting force! If it does come over the Mountain we will be dispatched to our neighbors properties. If we can help stop it before it gets to the highway then our place is just that much safer.
Where the fire is right now is the location of most southern Giant Sequoias. Some may remember last year when we lost more than 3 dozen Giant Sequoias, this is close to where the Trout fire is now.
Thank You @wellington for your concern it does make us feel good.

Just had a update ..... The fire is now 4,000+ acres as of midnight. That blows my previous posts numbers to a crazy exponential growth.
I hope it didn't spread up the mountains. 💨 more 🤗 🙏's to you.

It's a little early for the update but yesterday the fire really grew. I witnessed 2 Hot Shot crews from the US Forestry going to the fire, lets say in a hurry. The fire seems to be making a significant run AWAY from us, heading East with a little North growth as well. This was so different to watch than previous fires we've had in the area before. At the beginning ALL efforts to fight this fire were aircraft no personnel, never seen that. Now they are bringing who ever they can get here which is more like all the current fires in the area. Another really weird thing ... only retardant almost no water at all used ...?
We live by a lake a pretty large one and all the previous years our lake looked like a Flotilla of planes. You would be able to go down to the lake and watch Plane after Plane scooping water, this year ....squat. The intricacies of fighting fires can be very interesting and sometimes just downright weird.

I've always been curious if the planes that suck up water for a fire also suck up fish.

I'm glad to see the fire isn't moving towards you. Maybe they'll get it contained. The leftover smoke is bad too though. Hopefully it'll just blow upwards 🤞 and away.🤗🙏

@Cathie G Thank You so much for the prayers and concerns. Today has been quite active for personnel, they have basically moved a city in. 50+ Porta Potties, a dozen or so Sheriff's patrol cars (most likely for evacuation assistance), Bathroom Trailers, several BullDozers, 20+ Forestry Fire fighter vehicles (Hot Shot Crews), even saw some high level somebody in a Blacked out parade of SUVs. We feel a lot better now there are actual boots on the ground. We completely understand resources are spread thin but to have no one for a couple days .....the air attack failed to contain the fire. It was a hell of an Air Show though.
