Hi all, I am looking to buy a baby leopard tortoise as soon as next month, I am looking for a breeder or seller that anyone has previously used and is trusted? This is a gift for my soon to be 8 year old who has been begging for a leopard tortoise for months, please share. Thank you

Welcome to the forum. Do you have your enclosure setup yet? It's better to have it ready and the temperature correct before getting a tortoise. Leopard tortoise have great personalities!

Perhaps you’ll find this housing thread I made useful! This covers correct equipment(lighting, heating, uv), levels, importance of a closed chamber for younger torts, appropriately maintaining humidity, substrates, there’s lots of visual examples for everything and a really handy diet link to check out! If going with a greenhouse, the lower the ceiling height, whilst still allowing for recommended bulb height, the better!

This includes some other closed chamber options

Lastly, this one is also really good to familiarise yourself with, it’ll help you avoid the wrong bulbs, substrates, housing etc, I always encourage double checking purchases on the forum too before buying

Best advice I can give is to have everything up and running before baby comes! Also to be very wary of outside sources from the forum! There’s too much outdated and misinformation out there! This is the best place and you’ll soon see why! Welcome to the forum🐢💚

Be sure to get a closed chamber enclosure set up and running with correct temps, bulbs, heat, and humidity before adding a tortoise.
Also be prepared to care for the tortoise yourself. Most kids get bored very quickly as they are not a pet that can be played with like a dog or cat. Also be sure you have the yard to permanently house it outside when it's around 10 inches long which is around 3-4 years of age.
They can not live in an aquarium or small enclosure for very long.
