Our 9 year old - 65 lb tortoise seemed to have taken off. Haven’t seen him in a few weeks, dropped a go pro down his 12 foot burrow and didn’t see any signs.

We’re in the rural area of Dade City, FL, Pasco County. Nothing but ranches and farms in the immediate areas.

His name is Timmy.

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried flyers and posting on the nextdoor app?

In a few weeks that tortoise could be several miles away, so check in a wide perimeter of your home.

yes, details please! The more info we have the better we can advise the person with the next lost tortoise.

It was honestly luck.

My dad received a phone call from one of the regulars he drinks with at a local brewery in town. His buddy asked my dad if knew anyone that had a tortoise in his area (he lives in an area that’s only big farms around him) and he said yes we own one.

My dad proceeded to describe Timmy and his buddy said that’s exactly the tortoise a lady found on the road near the entrance to my family’s ranch.

The lady picked him up and brought Timmy to her farm about 2 miles away. My dad’s friend connected him with the lady and she was thrilled to find the owner. Apparently she has a petting zoo for kids and was gonna add Timmy to her collection.

So thankfully Timmy was in good hands but she quickly returned him to my family.

Wow. That's kind of "6 handshakes theory".

I'm glad that Timmy's at home and is doing well!
