male? female?

I’m so glad you posted! I took over care of a box turtle a year ago, thought it was a boy but it doesn’t seem to have the coloring male box turtles have! Maybe the experts on here can confirm for me. Your turtle is a pretty one! Looks like you are taking very good care of her.

can't tell with those pics. you need to see the underside of the tail. ( the vent area)

That looks female to me. Very tiny tail, and back feet aren't big like male box turtles' feet are.

I would say female. The vent does protrude beyond the edge of the shell a little but the combination of dull colors, brownish eyes, the absence of plastron concavity and a small tail and back feet indicate a female box turtle.
