I am new to the forum and I want to introduce my 6 rockin box turtles! (4 three-toed and 2 Eastern- well at least I believe that the 2nd Eastern is an Eastern, but you tell ME) I have two sons that love their turtles very much and I am in the process of having a large wooden turtle table built for these guys. Thanks for reading :)

All six enjoying a warm summer soak:

Our first and favorite-female three-toed boxie that my son named Jump:
<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0616.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0616.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A male three-toed with the most awesome red head. His name is Brock:
<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0622.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0622.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This is my very large Eastern female who I suspect of laying 6 eggs in the outdoor pen! We call her Biggie Smalls. Or just biggie :

<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0623.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0623.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

another of Biggie getting sniffed by Pickles the cat:

<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0627.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0627.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Trixie- a female three-toed that I found and was missing her back left foot! Shes really sweet:

<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0630.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0630.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Gets along just fine with her missing foot/leg:

<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0632.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0632.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Oscar the grouch (aka the one that likes to hide and wont eat in front of you) is a male three toed that has THE most beautiful ivory face markings! I love him! Him and Jump are good friends :)

<a href="http://s1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/?action=view&current=DSC_0634.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/Karlyholmes/DSC_0634.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

your crew is an awesome bunch....I have a feeling that they are all 3 toeds tho...Biggie smalls looks like a 3 toed to me...some have that shell pattern..she could also be a hybrid, but i doubt it....Your males are very handsome and that baby makes me want to nab him off the page!!!!!

I guess the nature center here is reading too much into the shell markings lol. Biggie is HUGE. You can see in the bath photo how much larger she is than the 6" others. She has to be almost 8".

The baby... is prone to biting even after eating is over with and fingers are still, it tries to crane its head towards hands and hisses. I dont really know why it does that but im hoping it resolves as we are about to move them to a large turtle table indoors to keep them cleaner and have greater access to them.

Is it possible that Biggie is a hybrid of three toed and gulf coast? That would explain the size, and her shell looks like it could be a possibility. Other than that, they all look three toed. I do not see any that look eastern.

I live in Arkansas and we have Eastern, Ornate and three toed here- supposedely lol

I think she is a three toed but being mixed with something is a possibility of course. Her carapace is really high and her shell is very worn so I suspect she is 20-30 years old, maybe 40 or more.

Here is another pic of the back of her:

My ttbt Lefty, is my biggest (i think same size as biggie..608 grams). As for the baby, they will be food aggressive when they are younger b/c they "don't have manners yet"..lol...in time the baby will become more docile. My youngest, Charlie, snaps at his food and munches it down really fast...he is my best eater actually.....I feed him separately....

I have to tell you that the female "eastern" is actually T. c. triunguis or three toed boxturtle.

What is biggie's local if you know that I might be able to tell you if she is an inter grade. I am going to post my rough draft of my Terrapene carolina conservation map after I get my new monster computer up and running it has a terabyte hard drive a 6 gb graphics card and 3 or 4 gb ram it was designed to run and make digital maps using arch map.

If she is from your local population then she is from outside the extensive inter grade zone. Though just so you know the three toed is believed to be a linear descendent of T. c. major (aka putnami) or the giant or gulf coast box turtle.

Actually, Biggie walked right into my garage one day and into my 3 yr olds hands! Fort Smith, Arkansas :)
