Mites or not?

Mr Turtle has many little white bugs crawling all over him. I've been waking them off daily, but there's always more.
I searched online for images of mites, but was unable to find any. Everyone just says they're usually black. Should I treat them like mites and change and clean the whole tank?

It's not mites, it's springtails. All of us that keep warm, moist enclosures have them.

So springtails aren't biting your tortoise or harming it in any way.
It isn't neccessary to wipe them off.

They are harmless detrivores enjoying the warm damp conditions and free food you've provided for them.
