Hello all,

I tried to search for this but couldnt get a solid answer.

I have one 0.0.1 Greek tort ~3" (cb).

I house him in a 4'x2' indoor pen and I want to get another one or two to have with him.

If I adopted a larger juv what would be too large to house them together??

tnkx.

There is no one good answer to this question. The problem is really not about size, its about which tortoise decides he wants to be the top dog. You might get a slightly larger tortoise and your smaller one decides HE wants to be top dog and starts to bully the larger one. Bullying causes stress and loss of appetite. The one being bullied knows he's supposed to leave the other tortoise's territory, but because they're housed inside four walls, he can't get away. Consequently, he usually stays hidden a lot and stops eating. Regardless of size. Of course, you might luck out and the tortoises get along famously!

Is this bullying more prevalent in males? If I join two Redfoot females do you think I would have this problem?

Sometimes the females are even more aggressive than the males, but to answer your question, no, bullying is not gender-related.
