Today I lifted up Minster's water bowl and I saw white fuzzy mold! I have seen this in my hermit crab tank but they are also in a moist environment. I scooped out the mold and sprayed the area with marine salt water for fish. Thinking about it, maybe that was a stupid thing to do. I reacted the way I do with my hermit crabs.

The mold was under the water bowl and appeared overnight. Minster likes dumping his water over.

Is this dangerous for him? I don't want to have to replace all of the substrate, but I will if I have to.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mold grows on decaying matter. This kind of mold won't hurt your tortoise. I usually just pick it out along with the substrate its growing on.
