Mold?

Quck question. If I build an enclosure from wood, I would have to treat it with something to stop the substrate from making it rot.. Right? Is there anything I should avoid? Anything toxic to torts? Anything you recommend?

Most new wood is pressure treated with chemicals to prevent rot before it is sold. Given this timber could be used in your house, it is unlikely to contain anything at a strength that would harm you or your pets.

I meant if I needed to varnish the wood would there be any types to avoid!

I'm going to be using unfinished MDF sheeting, but if the Coco coir is damp surely that would cause some problems to the wood?

Most of us use a piece of pond-liner (I got one cheaply off the internet) or a heavy duty shower curtain of some sort to line an indoor tortoise table. I haven't varnished or treated the outside at all.
