Frogmores new enclosure mostly set up. Had some pothos and spider plants in there but he eats the pothos and tramples the spider plants lol. Daytime temps at 87, nighttime 81-82. Humidity at 80-85, condensation on all walls. Magnolia branches for cover. Little guy is growing like a weed 👍

This looks great, but it appears that the enclosure is already too small.

The only way I can keep live plants in my enclosures is in pots.

I use mulberry, lavatera, and hibiscus branches and grape vines for cover and grazing.

We thought it might be... Would increasing the size by half be ok for awhile? We figured we can just build another box, cut a wall off the end and add on as needed for awhile modular style. Increasing by half would bring it to six feet long.

Any increase in size will be beneficial. I love the idea of making a new box and making a portal into the old box.

Sounds good. We figured doing it this way, we can just keep adding on until hes big enough for outside rather than having to build completely new enclosures. We're also thinking of getting some small plant hangers that can go on the walls, that way plants can trail down without pots taking up floor space. He's growing so fast though! About to hit quadruple what he was when he arrived. Do you have any general rules on minimum enclosure size? Something like Xsft per 100 grams? Obviously bigger is better but, man, he's hard to keep up with lol.

I hang plants from the ceiling too.

They need at least 2x4 feet as hatchings. Then at 3-4 inches, I move them into a 3x8 or 4x8 foot enclosure. This is where they stay until they are 8-10 inches and too big to live inside. Then I move them outside with a heated shelter for night time.

During the whole time I like to have a large outdoor enclosure and use it periodically in fair weather. My general rule is one hour of outside time per inch of tortoise. By the time they are 5 or 6 inches, I like to leave them outside most of the day in good tortoise weather.
