mouth rot??

Saw this on my sully's tongue
it was white yesterday and now its brownish
He seems to be eating normally
is it mouth rot? and if it is, what do i do?

E-w...that doesn't look good. Try to pick it off, then dab the raw spot it leaves with Betadyne. Treat it as if it were highly contagious. You can dab with Betadyne for a couple days, then after that you should use Nolvasan. Both of these are usually found in the pharmacy, but if not, you can buy them from your vet. They're both good products to have on hand.

From the Tortoise Trust web site:

Stomatitis: If caught early, swab mouth twice daily with diluted Nolvasan or povidone-iodine (Betadine liquid). Severe infections need urgent veterinary treatment. Regular beak maintenance is important to prevent stomatitis. Some forms are caused by a herpes-group virus. Mixed colonies are much more at risk than small same-species groups maintained in isolation. Treatment is prolonged and often the prognosis is poor.

What's up with the cat ?
You usually all way's have the cat in your post.So what's the deal???

Hmm, strange. It looks like greens, but I guess not.
How did you get it to open its mouth? :p

You should notice a more healed-looking spot after a week. But if it still looks raw, continue.

i had to hold his head and pry open his mouth
i hope i didn't hurt him :( , but it was for the good of him
