Hi there :)
We are the proud parents of 2 tortoises... A female Texan (Charger) and a male Russian (Rally). They are both around 6 years old. We didn't know the species, gender or age of either until we took them into the herb specialist last year. We just moved up to Eastern Washington state from Southern California last year. We hibernate our tortoises and they did great this year with the major shift in climate for them and us :) Thanks for having us in the group :)

Welcome to the forum. I am also in Eastern WA, Spokane Valley.

Howdy neighbor :) If you have any local resources (within a 2-3 hour drive) I'd love to have some. I had an AMAZING herb vet before we moved. Feeling a little lost up here now.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

I'm not coming down on you, I'm just letting you know so you will be informed. It is illegal to take the Gopherus species out of their home state. You probably got your Texas tortoise from someone in California who raised it from an egg. In that case, California was its home state.

Also, one should not mix species - especially the Russian species. Russian tortoises are notoriously "dirty" and carry all sorts of bad germs that might make your Texas tortoise sick.

We have many members in the Pacific Northwest. You're in good company!!

We are pretty lonely here honestly. There are no vets in the immediate area. There is a vet up on W Francis who will xray when needed and send to Dr down in Pullman ar WSU. The vet hospital there is great. Valley Vet has a lab they send fecal too, so can do that easily. Only charge $28 and test for flagelates (s) as well as worms.
Feel free to message me for more info. :)
