out in the wild males only encounter females rarely. So when you have a pair living together the male is in Heaven and the female is in Hell.

I agree she looked totally depressed, thankfully I've finished the enclosure now so the two are separate at long last, hoping to wake up to two happy tortoises in the morning after a stressful few days for both them and me, just need to pop out in the morning and buy additional spot heater and water dish!
