I hav a male russian tortoise and a female and lately my male has been bobbing his head up and down and biting her front legs. Why is my male doing this?
Because this is what russians do. This is one reason why they shouldn't be housed in pairs. It could be breeding behavior or territoriality. Either way its time to separate them.

1- build a very large outside habitat. think like 150sq ft or more. Have it very heavily planted, lots of bushes and maybe a tree. Let the grass grow really tall. Let them live there together and see if things are ok. Maybe it will be Maybe not.. and if not then try
