My tortoise broke his beak

My russain tortoise broke his beak on a new enclosure we where trying for him. He bit the wiring and then couldn't get off so I tried pulling a bit then getting him to open his mouth by using lettuce but accidently pulled too hard and the tip of his beak came off. He already had a long beak and we needed to cut it but yeah I'm not sure whether is might harm him or be bad so need some help. Also I do understand that beaks grow back eventually
