My 13-year-old female sulcatta loves to walk around and around in her pen. It has smooth clay walls, and she walks rubbing up against the walls. She has worn down the sides of her shell a great deal over time. Is this bad for her do you think? I worry that she’ll wear it all the way through.

I doubt it will wear clear through. Most sulcatas do this. You can interrupt the 'flow' by placing something large and unmoving in the path every so many feet. . . a big rock that she has to walk around, a large, heavy potted plant, etc. My sulcata has broken off chunks of stucco off the side of my house in his path.

Maybe THAT's how the Grand Canyon was really formed! (Trying to picture a hoard of tortoises etching out the canyon over millions of years). lol
