I am so sorry to hear....rest in peace Frankenstein.

I would do a full substrate change. I also would clean/sanitize any water/food dishes (or replace them). I also would just enjoy Mothra as your only tort for awhile....a solo tort---is a happy tort :D

I am so sorry. I heard at a lecture by Dr. Boyer that Russins are carriers of Tortiose Herpies and should not be kept with any other animal. I think you should go back to the pet store and complain and try and get your money back. If they have to give you your money back the might change thinks. Good luck.

The tortoise was being housed improperly, that isn't the pet stores problem.

The OP stated that the red foot was housed with multiple Russians while on sale at the pet store.

Now I see it. Didn't see it when I was looking over the ops posts. You really should inform the pet store that they shouldn't be housed together and have different living requirements. I think it is fairly obvious that different species would have different care, so I don't really understand why they were being housed together at any point in time.

I'm curious to know what you mean by force hydration? Was it soaking or syringe feeding water? The reason he 'needed forced hydration' was likely because he wasn't kept humid enough. If there was no humidity at all, plus the stress of diff species cage mate, improper diet, and temperatures, this is likely what killed it.
