Hi guys I just have a question is it safe to clip tortoise nails if they get far to long or is the vet the best bet?

That's just not an easy answer...females have longer claws used to dig nests...male turtles use longs front claws to gently brush a female's face during mating...there's numerous reasons not to trim claws...why don't you tell us what you have and post pictures...you'll get more help that way...

Some species have naturally long claws. For instance, I would not trim a russian's claws.

But if your tortoise truly needs his claws trimmed, it doesn't need to be taken to the vet.

Like Maggie said, let's see some pictures.
