My 6yr old sulcata sneezes or acts congested occasionally. But tonight he is coughing, sounds like a person clearing their throat. Lately in the warm weather he spends a lot of time on the deck, but it's been raining for 2 days. He has been digging deep in his substrate, walnut based litter. Is this too dry for him? He hates soaking. Eating great today. Appreciate your thoughts.

Are you meaning crushed walnut substrate? If yes, I would remove that and use an earthen substrate (peat moss, coco coir, clean dirt)...yes, that crushed walnut will dry your tort out---also, can become lodged in their nostrils, easily.

You have a six year old, and he's outside with access to a deck, but still on substrate? You'll need to explain your housing situation. Pics would help too. Where are you? Where does he sleep? What are his night temps and what are you doing for heat for him at night?
