I am trying to set up his table with something more than a digging spot, feeding stations and den.

Any ideas..

You can plant lots of different weeds (then you don't even need a feeding station anymore) and put in some stones, branches, cork bark,...
If you need more ideas look at pictures from their natural habitat. ;)

His breeder is giving me some tortie mix, so i think i will Add that as sod and see if i can find some organic sod too for enrichment. ...

So their natural envor. Looks alot like where i live (Maine, USA).. Are the weeds the same though? I tried looking this up online with no help. However i make the HUGE mistake over posting my questions on the intro page.. Big huge mistake!!!

I am also getting another animal or two as well as the person i got him from has several species or torties who all live in a same species group.. Such as all the herman live together, all the redfoots live together, etc.

What other tortoise are you getting? Just remember pairs almost never work. And will eventually lead to a sick or dead tortoise. Check out the Hermann tortoise care sheet for ideas for groups.
Anyway, I did read that care sheet briefly, scanned it really, and some veggies and weeds are listed. Also check out the Russian tortoise section and there is a long list that are also safe for her Herman tortoises. Besides things people have already listed such as logs, rocks, plants, you can try just varied to rain. Just make Hills for the tortoise to walk up and down. This is also a safety feature, if your tortoise gets flipped upside down it will have a harder time getting turned over on a flat surface. I have used herb plants because my tortoise doesn't eat them but likes to hide under them. In my outdoor enclosure my tortoise eats what is planted in there, I do not feed her otherwise. I used broadleaf seed mix from tortoise supply. In the winter indoors I feed some of the seed mix that I grow inside as well as grocery store greens such as endive escarole and also dandelion leaves and cactus. I put it in various places around the enclosure so my tortoise walks around and finds it. This gives them exercise as well as keeps them busy and entertained. My substrate is at least 6 inches deep everywhere and this allows my tortoise to dig wherever she wants. My tortoise is a Russian so they might dig more than Herman tortoises do but either way it works well.

You seem to have a major issue taking advice. If you constantly think people are ripping on you or insulting you or starting a fight with you then pretty soon that's what they will start doing. I I will not do that. Take advice you like, ignore or at least contemplate the stuff you don't, and loosen up.

I've been a member of this forum for over a year. Everyone seems to be very helpful and pleasant. I'm sorry if you're feeling uncomfortable, that's the last thing we want for members. :)

There were a few pieces of advice thrown in there. Sorry you missed them. I hope they will at least be A little helpful to somebody else reading this thread possibly.

No one is trying to make you feel uncomfortable. You are not being harassed by anyone. The frequent posters are trying to help you help your animal. Your reaction is over the top. Everyone simply wants what's best for your tortoise. Take a step back and view all advice in that light.

Please consider that the collective wisdom here might be more extensive than your local sources. Please consider that your discomfort may be a good thing that leads you to learn good care practices.

It's a pity that you don't think we're helpful when we disagree with you. It will be a pity if you offend everyone and no one reads your posts or answers them anymore.

You asked for advice then yell at the best advice you could get. I don't give a rats a** if he has a PHD or and FBD, most information coming like someone for him is not much good. Chelonia care is ever changing and new things are discovered all the time.
The number one rule of tort keeping is to keep species sererate. One species can carry diseases that might not affect them but could kill anyother tortoises. If you old fashinoed PHD person is so great why are you not useing his advice and being rude to very knowledgable and nice people who are trying to help you. You certainly sound like you have issues and ask for help then don't want it....

If you put a Sulcata and a Redfoot in the same habitat, who will get sick first? The Redfoot who is too dry or the Sulcata who is too wet? They each have their own micro climate and diet. The Sulcata will eat the Redfoot's fruit or protein and get sick.
You reported a nice person who gave you great advice and I'll guarantee you won't hear from me again. Why ask for advice, then get mad about it? I'm outa here. You can learn on your own as far as I'm concerned.

How it works here is the YOU ask a question and several people answer it. Tina did not follow you nor was she confrontational. I am a disabled senior and can promise you that is NO excuse for your rudeness.....
and your 5.0 light does not have enough heat or UVB for him....A Powersun 100 watts is better for him...
