Yes they can lay unfertilised eggs.

If you suspect a female needs to lay, it’s important to give them somewhere to lay to minimise the risk of becoming egg bound.

I think spell check strikes again!!! At least it wasn't anything profane or inappropriate...
Can be very embarrassing. - I sent some advise to my mother in law once. Told her to "just flick it" or at least that's what I thought I had typed.
