New little buddy! 2 year old (I was told), Geocholona Sulcata. Physical features indicate female, so I've named her 'Isla' (pronounced eye-luh). She weighs in at 9.75 ounces and her plastron measures 4.5 inches long / 3.5 inches wide. She's awesome!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Your "Isla" is a beautiful tort, but keep an eye on humidity. Her shell is a little bit pyramiding ( the beginning of it ). Not worse, but be careful that it will not be more.

So, does she need more humidity or less humidity? I live in a pretty humid place....

Babies should be kept in 80% or so humidity.
Sorry to piggy back off your thread... :).... you said babies should be in 80% humidity... bass.isles said her new tort is about 2 years old.... is that still considered a baby? Or is it more determined on size? I just ask because my new little guy is somewhere between 1-2 years ....and I want to make sure I am providing the correct humidity indoors for size/age? Thanks so much!!

Hello,

a 2 years old tort is no baby anymore, but still a young and growing tort. Tortoises can even get a pyramided shell when they are older but still growing.
So it is necessary to keep an eye on high humidity as long as a tort grows.
In the wild they hide in humid burrows the most time of the day when it is hot outside.
