Very cute. However if you do some research on here, you should find there is a much better, more natural substrate you could use.

Thank u I did think this was the right substrate it's beech wood chips ? :/

From what I gather, most people use top soil and sand mix, with sand being about 20-30% and soil 70-80%. Well, I use coco husks personally. Same for my snake, both of them enjoy themselves.

I love that your tortoise's name is Eric. Hilarious..

Try to do less of what the store tells you to use. It may require your going out and needing to shop at more than one place, as opposed to just visiting the pet shop for everything, but it is well worth it to your tortoise. The more natural conditions you can provide, the most comfortable little Eric will do in his home.

He looks beautiful and you are in the right place to share/learn information.

peat is another common item to include in a substrate. Cypress mulch is often used, as well; it seems best used on top of other substrates.

So coco husks are good to use too?
