Add another tortoise

Hello I wonder if anyone can help me, I currently have a hatched 2011 tortoise named Eric he is a very happy tortoise eats well and very active I would like another as I love them so much, I was wondering can I add another to Eric?

You can, yes, but be aware that any time you add another tortoise (or more) in with your current tortoise(s) there can be trouble. Trouble may be bullying, shoving, fighting, and biting even for just some examples. To lower this you normally want all tortoises to be about the same size, the same species, to have a really large enclosure, to have lots of hides and visual barriers. Even then it may not work, so always be ready to seperate. Some types of tortoises also have more problem with the idea of sharing space such as the Russian and sulcata. Usually two tortoises also have more problems then groups of three or more.

That's fab thank you for ur help, :) I have a hermann but I think I would rather not take the risk and be happy with what I have :) xxxx couldn't bare the thought of them fighting xx

...and:

Tortoises are solitary creatures. In the wild they don't hang out in groups, preferring the solitary existence. This way they don't have to share the best hiding place or the food. They are territorial, and chase other tortoises out of their territory.

If you want another tortoise, get it for you, not for your tortoise to have a friend. But get it and set it up in a totally different habitat.

Definitely a lot to think about, I love Eric so so much it's strange isn't it as they are fascinating to watch and pet but u can't cuddle them I never thought I would love a lil tort so much :) haha check me declaring hahah

I agree and non tortoise folks just don't "get it".

Ur absolutely right they just look at u like ur nuts lol, I am in the near future going to add another baby to my current Eric but I will ask hubby to build me a double tier tortoise pen, so be like lil bunkbeds so they have there own pen each :) xxx always ways around these things ;)
