This afternoon I found this guy walking the fence line in the Yellow Foot pen,The yellow foots are not there because of the cold cloudy rainy weather we are still having. I don't have any idea who put him there, but it was sometime today and I was here all day but was not out much because of the rain. He is healthy looking and heavy. Not shy and very alert and calm almost like he's been in captivity for a while. He looks me straight in the eye and while in his temporary inside enclosure he looks around like he is studying everything he can see, and not trying to get out. Most wild caught will either stay closed up when they see you, or try to escape until they settle in, this guy just stares at me like I am supposed to do something.

No body ever leaves things like this for me:( He is very pretty. His front legs look just like my Uromastyx legs.

I'm of two minds about this...

I'd love for turtles and tortoises to just turn up automatically, but...

I don't like anyone knowing that I keep turtles and tortoises here because I worry about stealing in the night.

So, while I'm happy that you've got a new eastern box turtle, and a very pretty on at that, I worry that too many people know that you have turtles and tortoises.

That is fantastic Len. I have problems with males coming and staying. But that isnt the problem. Its the going. All my males that end up here find there way back out somehow. Even with 20" tall walls for these little guys. Hes a looker for sure.

Normally it would be a good thing, "getting a free box turtle" but I am over crowded with adults that have just showed up here since last spring.I put this guy in the toad pen until I can fix another area for boxies. Yvonne I do worry about thievery somewhat but no one really knows what is here, except for Walker, he is quite popular and well known, the school buses even stop by daily to see if he is out. And don't forget I have 5 dogs.
