Hi everyone!
So I'm moving house in August and think this is the perfect opportunity to set up a new indoor and outdoor enclosure for beastie.
At the moment he has both an indoor and outdoor enclosure but I've felt like I've never been able to give him the awesome enclosures he deserves because I have always rented and haven't been able to make any changes to the garden... But I can in August!!! :):)
So a couple of things to point out:
He is a Greek tortoise and approx 4 years old
I live in Scotland where there is a lot of rain and not very warm so outdoor time will be limited and I will need to make the enclosure outdoors a space that can be heated as well - has anybody on here renovated a shed?

I'm open to suggestions and any previous threads that were in a similar position to myself.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I don't have any experience with heating an outdoor enclosure, but congrats on being able to get your own place! I too rent (due to unforeseen circumstances) and can't wait to buy my own place so I can set up a bigger, better outdoor enclosure. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I'm really excited :)
I have rented for the last 7 years since I moved out of my mum and dads. It took me so long to get to this stage!
I wish you all the best in getting your own place too :)

Hi, Kirsty, thanks for thinking of me, you silly person you!
I don't really have this problem as Morocco is pretty hot for most of the year so I don't need outdoor heating, I bring Tidgy in for the coldest part of the winter, but even then she's okay outside during the day most of the time.
However, here are some useful threads that may help you, though they don't all deal specifically with Greeks, the principal is the same.

The last one is particularly good (sorry TFO).
Hope there are some good ideas amongst all this.

LOL! Sorry. Your like my Greek go to guy :p
Lots of good tips there which I'll definitely check out. Will let you know how it turns out in the end and I'm really jelous that you live somewhere that's hot all year round with glorious sandy beaches!
What I was thinking about doing was taking the bottom half of the shed door off and then adding an extension on to it so half would be warm and sheltered and the other half would be outdoors where I could plant seeds etc. does that sound like a good idea to you?

Yeah, that sounds great, but you'd still need insulation and probably heating in the inside bit.
I live on a plateau inland and am a long way from the beaches.
I go skiing near here in the winter, but our city in the valley on the plateau stays pretty warm and no snow.
The beaches are pretty good though, Med and Atlantic coastline, doesn't take long to get to flying.
I remember Scotland well, lots of visits when I was a kid. Very beautiful.
But very nippy in winter.
And summer, sometimes.
Feel free to ask me anytime you have a query, though there are others more in the know than I, I do my best.
You are most welcome.

Yeah Scotland is beautiful although when it rains all year round you don't get out often enough to appreciate it. I live just outside Edinburgh in a small town where there is lots of scenery. I guess you just take it for granted :)
My partner keeps going on about the insulation so yeah... He can do that bit lol and I definitely need heating of some sort but it's all a working progress so will let you see it when it's done.
Ps. I think you seriously underestimate yourself. You know far more than I do so thanks for taking the time to help me out (not that you had a choice :))
