New items safe for tortoise?

Hello,

I recently got a tortoise, and I've just bought him a Habba Hut.
Does anyone know whether I'll need to clean it before putting it in, or will it be fine?

Also is it worth giving him some balls to push around? Or will these only cause him to get stressed? The balls I'm referring to are the Rosewood Natural Trio Fun Balls.

Tortoises don't play. I think the balls will be stressful for him.
By Habba Hut, do you mean those half-log hides? I had one of those a long time ago and didn't clean it before using it.

I rinse off anything bought from the store for them that's not in a wrapper. Sometimes it could have a cleaner like polish on it from them dusting it off.
As for toys/balls, I wouldn't give one too a baby but sometimes larger/adults will enjoy one.

Thanks for the replies. I've given the Habba Hut a rinse just to be sure, and I'll leave the balls, perhaps trying them when he's older.

@LaLaP thanks for the welcome. I've got a spur-thighed tortoise. Haven't had him long and he's spending a lot of time sleeping atm, so haven't managed to get any good pictures. Hopefully I'll get some when he decides to be more active
