New to the site, and new to the raising of a Tortoise.

Great Info on the search feature. I found I have a "Gopherus Agassizii" Desert Tortoise. Where do we get names? Is there a tortoise name book?)

My name is John, from California desert, and introducing Tiny T.

Hi John,
Welcome! I have a California Desert Tortoise too, raised her from about three years. She'll be 12 in October. I had her vet confirm that she is the species gopherus agassizii.

Welcome John. Usually when I think of the torts name I have to get a feel for their personality and whatever comes to mind in resemblance to the behavior or fond memory of something that will always have some sort of significants.

placed some pics in gallery, but Upside down and side ways???

I cropped and did some rotating but will that fix it all?

Let me see if a reboot will reset what I did.

Tiny T weighed in today at 1.3 oz and has 2 1/4 inch shell.:tort:

Hello and welcome.

In case no one has told you yet, water will not make your baby melt like the wicked witch of the East...

I would soak your baby every day for a while in a tub of some sort with warm shallow water for around 20 minutes, and also provide a shallow water bowl in the enclosure. Terra cotta plant saucers work great. I mention this right off the bat because people keep most tortoises too dry and dehydrated and CA desert tortoises are one of the worst victims of this. Yes they come from a dry area, but they hang out in the dampest most humid parts of that area (underground).
