New outdoor enclosure

Hi i am going to start building my outdoor enclosure soon for a russian tort questions i have right now are should i remove all the grass and if so what would be a good ground cover if i do thanks

Well, they don't eat much grass, however, that IS the ground cover in my russians' yard. Trouble with grass (when the tortoise doesn't keep it eaten down) is you have to get in there and cut it back or mow it every so often. If that doesn't sound appealing to you, then by all means, remove it. Then plant dichondra, clover, or any edible ground cover. And, of course, allow the weeds to grow.

Only if the grass has been treated with anything. Otherwise no. But do take measures so that he won't be able to dig out. I laid a puppy exercise pen I had laying around on top of the ground and attached it to the side fencing. The ground/grass/weeds were still there and eventually covered the x-pen on the ground.
