new tem enclosure

Got this on craigslist for $150 my bf thinks i got ripped its been outside awhile but its big for my little guy 6 1/2 long 2 1/2 wide i know ill need something larger in future. I just got it cleaned out and him in it think he willl like all the room. Dumb question came with top made of plywood and metal mesh can i set my heat lamps directly on top of the mesh?

Is it thick wired mesh? It really depends on the wattage of your bulb. I use a 60 watt flood bulb for my Russian and that sits on a mesh. It has held up perfectly fine for me. If it is a UVB bulb, the rays will not properly disperse.

As long as the mesh is metal and not too close a knit, it should be fine.

And yeah, to be honest, I think $150 is a little high. I could've built something very similar for less than $50.

Ya it's metal and not to closed I use 100 watt during day and heat lamp at night I'll eventually get something larger and nicer my bf was going build me something till then but I'm too impatient saw this and got it :p figured I was paying to much oh we'll.
