New yearling redfoot

Just got this guy a few days ago. He appears to be eating well, not a lot at one sitting but seems active and will nibble everytime he walks past. Can anyone tell from the horrible photos what subspecies it may be? He is about 4 inches in length (Plastron). Also you can kind of see in the side photo where his third carapace scute is indented. Any thoughts on what may have caused this? Thanks and looking to many years of enjoyment!

He sure looks really fine to me, and you shouldn't worry too much. You should see how the carapace looks like on a 35 year old male with split scutes that has been "polished" by other redfoots climbing on top of each other for many years...
