Hello, I am newbie both to tortoises and here! I'm hoping to get a tortoise in the next few months. I've come here to learn all I can about tortoises.

Thanks for the replies! I am looking at getting a Hermmann's as I initially want a fairly small adult but am open to all kinds as we will have moved into a house with a big garden in a few years time.

Ive heard Hermanns are great torts! Im a little biased but i think red foots are the best they do get significantly bigger but they sure do look awesome! They would also be small enough for the first couple years to house in a smaller space.

What kinda Hermanns are you looking at? Eastern or Western? I have an eastern, they get slightly larger, but when I say that a large female is usually around 7inch
