I've just got my horsefield today and the people I bought him from use a heatmat during the night. I know these aren't the best so bought a clamp and 60wt heat red bulb to replace it. I was just wondering what is the best distance to have this up from my tort. Thanks

Your tort does not need light at night... and unless it gets very cold, or your enclosure is humid, it doesn't need heat either.

Red lamps are particularly bad news with torts. They are very attracted to red foods and they have been known to eat things coloured by red light. So I am afraid you need to abandon that bulb. If you need extra heat at night, use a CHE
