Tortoises have poor hearing, but they can detect vibrations in the ground and base sounds low enough to cause vibration. Normal level sounds such as conversation are probably for the most part undetectable to them.

Hi stables_26:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

What would you like for us to call you?

Also, when we know approximately where you are, it helps us design our answers to better fit your problem.

I doubt the sound or vibrations would bother a tortoise.

From my limited experience with one tort, I'd say light is a bigger factor than sound. I can stay up til 3 AM watching Netflix and not disturb him at all if his light is out.
The nights I turn off his lights late, like 10pm instead of 8, he wakes up way later the next morning.
... I need a timer.
