So my Russian managed to drag a piece of his greens into his water dish, and I was wondering if torts can eat things submerged in water? Like, could they accidentally inhale water and cause problems? Just curious.

They can eat things in their water dish and it shouldnt be a big deal. I have never heard of a tortoise accidentally inhaling water from eating and getting hurt from it but maybe someone else has.
Well, since they drink through their nose and through their mouth, I would think it would be fairly hard for them to inhale liquid. The nostrils go to the roof of a tortoise's mouth, not down his throat and into the lungs.
