So if you have been reading the forums, this baby is the one that I have been having issues with. Namely a super thin plastron, and he is also now on antibiotics.

It seems that where his plastron is paper thin...I mean more than normal..the color is almost looking like it's becoming transparent. It's not quite there yet, but if you look at the pictures, there is a definite color difference.

Please focus on the middle part of his plastron that appears "dark". Also notice his little poop in the pictures to see the brown coloration mixed in with the typical green color of poop tortoises have. Before antibiotics, this was more mucus in viscosity, and now after a solid week of doses, appears to be more solid. I am not used to seeing this color of brown mixed in with the green.

I have included a picture in this thread and the link to view a larger size of it (hopefully). Area of softness and concern is dark area in middle of plastron.

It's a very uniquely colored redfoot, that's all I can really say from the pictures.

Are you seeing improvements from the antibiotics?

Activity is better, he is eating now decently again.

But the dark almost transparent (super thin..Like paper) middle section of the plastron is concerning still. Also the odd coloration of his poop is concerning also. Not sure if this is typical with bacteria infections or not. Never had to give antibiotics before.

So I guess since there's been no other thoughts that the discoloration of the middle section of plastron is not something identifiable with a problem?

And the odd brown color on the poop hasn't been seen much either? None of my other torts have ever had brown splotches like this before?

Without seeing and feeling the thinness, I can't say much other than, yes it's a unique color.
Even if I had the tort in hand, I don't know what I could say other than agree/disagree with the thickness of its plastron. I think this is why no one has offered opinions, we really don't know Mighty...I do wish we could offer you more assistance!

Hang in there and don't fret too much about the bowel movement, things will be off from the antibiotics. I'm routing for the little guy, especially since he seems to have such a unique coloration, I'd love to see him/her as an adult. Continue the antibiotics and keep us posted!
