Well done, you! Very happy with you. As for telling strangers, just wait until ya get em. I'm in a town of two stop lights. Most people know, by osmosis it would seem, that I'm a tortoise rancher. Folks call to say the grand kids are in town, and ask if they can all come up for a field trip. Being very shy,( insert sarcasm) I always say of course!

I'm so happy for your new herd- and it sounds like you are working up to having a herd. LOL! I adore redfoots. When I got Gibby, a little teeny baby rescue, I immediately did what you are doing- signed up here and alternated between reading everybody's posts on here and staring at him, wondering how in the world I was going to keep him alive- he seemed so fragile and helpless. Now Gib runs the household and weighs over a pound (and we just brought home two more teeny rescues with breathing problems, and that are very runt-ey and already have severely malformed shells from being kept in 100+ degree heat and kept with no shade, food or water for days- just heartbreaking...)

Pictures, please, if you can stop watching them long enough to actually sit at a computer. BTW- I couldn't have ever made it through the two new rescue's illnesses, or set up little Gibby's luscious "heated floor" habitat without the expert tortie companions here on tortoiseforum.org - you are in excellent hands here, both for explicit care instructions, and for the overall approach to respecting these amazing animals and treating them well. Let us all know how you are doing and if you have any questions- ask away! People totally "get it" here and are kind and will give you truly good, practical advice.
Karen, Gibby, Pumpkin, Bumpah, and one very loving patient husband Cliff too

Thanks again everyone. A huge part of my excitedness and one of the best experiences about this whole thing is this forum :) I love being able to share and the fact that there are such amazing nice people who share this passion with me is so amazing! If I didn't have yall to share with I wouldn't be near as excited. But this forum gives me this whole extra reason :) so thank you for letting me experience this! Really. Countdown is on!! less than 5 hours until I meet my new lifelong partners in crime! Well, I meet my redfoot first. Then later today I get to meet my Itty bitty sulcata :) I already have names picked out but that's a surprise until I introduce them ;) :p prepare yourselves for a massive flood of pictures!

Sorry I missed this earlier. Read this so you know what to ask the breeder about the new baby:
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/hatchling-failure-syndrome.23493/
This is a very common problem, especially in dry climates like ours, but easily preventable.

Here are some other threads to help you out:

Thanks! I cannot stop looking at them lol. When I first saw Jones I was so excited that I legit hugged him and he stretched his neck out and just rested it on my shoulder. I melted instantly. I'm going to have so much fun with these two.
