outdoor environment in the making....

Hi all,
So, Spring is coming around, and my partner and I were thinking of making a outdoor vivarium! one thing that we were hoping for was to include a bunch of plants that would be good for out eastern box turtle to walk amongst and eat at her leisure . something that we were concerned with was using certain soils. we do not know what would be good for both the plants and our turtle, which is why i turn to the wisdom of the forum. Oh, i almost forgot to mention, we are in the Southern Oregon region, if that makes a difference. hope to hear from y'all soon.

Check out thetortoisetable.org for safe plants. I would think plain dirty would be good.

Yes, plain dirt, as long as it has not been treated with anything. If it is very hard pack or clay like, you can dig in some gravel/peat moss/organic soil amendment, so that the plants will do well. I have a lot of gravel areas in my outdoor enclosure for drainage. No tort has ingested any to their detriment, and it is great for drainage.
