Peeling plastron

Hi, I was just wondering Sheldon's plastron is peeling in a few spots. I was just wondering how common this is, and if it's anything I should be alarmed about. It's like the top shiny layer is peeling away in a few spots. Just wondering if it's normal and if there is anything I should do. And also will it ever come back? His shell looks pinkish in the pictures, but it's just the way the light was hitting it.

I hope so, I wasn't sure if the shell shedded like skin or not. I don't know if all first-time tortoise owners go through this worrying stage or not. He really is part of the family.[emoji4]
