My daughter and I had read tons of info before we got the two Sulcatas, one was based on peronalities, and OMG they do have personalities beyond !!!! The one when we got them, the previous owners said this is the bold curious one the other is laid back. After a week the bold one is still bold, when it decides to come out, but the other one has become the curious friendly one, as tonight when we got home we went down to the workshop, spoke to them and the smaller one opened its eyes, looked at us, raised up an out it came from the hide, and hung by the side of the enclosure trying to climb up,until we got them out to feed them, so either im the funny looking guy that has good tasting yummy's or they do actually have personalities !! Thanks to all for the info help on care and posting pics ect, ya all been a great help !!!!

This is the main reason people tend to like the sulcatas. There are other good things about them too, but they just have such engaging personalities. Wait until they are bigger and you go into their pen to try to do something. They will give new meaning to the phrase "underfoot".

I train protection dogs and all my friends and family know of my accomplishments. When they come over, I take them in the sulcata pen and as the torts come charging over to investigate, I tell the people that I attack trained the tortoises too. They laugh at first, but when the torts don't slow down their relentless charge, the people get a look of disbelief and then quickly jump out of the pen...

Haha... good times.

I'm raising a Sulcata with my daughter (4yr old) as well Dave.Good to see I'm not alone in creating a future tortoise addict. She never misses a day to care for "her" tortoise, and always helps me with all the other critters.
