We promised to post some pics and participate as real official members to the community here. Here is our girl Frankie. She is an adopted/rescued Russian. She came via another family and a pet store several years before that. She shows clear signs of a trauma and malnutrition in an earlier life. Our vet looked with us and her shell is fine now but had a cracked at some point and grew malformed probably due to her diet of lots of romaine lettuce and then over correction with lots of calcium powder. We have her on a healthy diet proper temps/UV and she seems to be doing great. We just can't wait for more sun here so she can be outside a bit more. Right now we only had a couple of supervised sunny days. She is sweet, active and a beloved family member

Yeah Yvonne, according to hubby Frankie is big for a Russian and our vet thought so too. She has some strange growth anomalies, she had a huge growth spurt and some point and relatively flattening of shell. Hubby and vet have all sorts of theories of her history but we don't know for sure. But we will take good care of nutrition, light, humidity moving forward.

Frankie is a very nice looking Russian tortoise and very lucky to have found such a sweet little boy to take care of her. He looks so cute in that picture, so taken by the tortoise. :D

Thanks for sharing photos of your beloved little Frankie...she's in safe hands now! :D

Her shell isn't nearly as bad as Taco's, and now she'll be getting the care she needs to keep it from getting any worse. ;)
