I recently noticed these plants on the side of our driveway, and was wondering if anyone knew what these were, and if they're safe to feed a sulcata tortoise. Thank you!

Is that some sort of germanium? I would check the www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/ plant database.

I don't recognize the round leaf one, but I see some dandelion mixed in there.

Where are you? This might be a clue to IDing the round leaved one.

Yes, I was able to recognize the dandelions. Still not sure what these mystery leaves are, though!
I'm in the suburbs of Illinois.

It looks like wild violets to me. I have them everywhere.

If that is what they are, my tortoises all eat them all the time.

There wouldn't be any flowers this time of year, just the greens. Have you noticed these flowering in the spring and/or early summer?

Ringed in green - dandelion
Ringed in orange - looks like violet to me.

Both edible :) (However my Greek won't touch violets and we have loads!)

I can't tell for sure if the 5 year old sulcatas are eating the violet or not, but my baby eats it. My Russian doesn't eat it, and I'm not sure if the redfoot does yet or not.

Ohh, I do see a resemblance between these leaves & the wild violets.Thank you guys for your input! I'll be sure to let him have a taste.
-Quick question, are these leaves safe to feed on a daily basis? Or is it more of a once-every-so-often treat? Thank you.

I was going to say violet too, but the ones I have had that looked like that and I thought were violets, never got any flowers, so I wasn't sure if that's what it was.

Awesome, thanks everyone. I fed them to my baby sulcata (Hubert) this morning and he loved them. Will definitely do for a tasty treat!
