plastron rot, how can i treat it?

i ve noticed that the plastron of my tortoise has rot, any help on how it can be treated?

I would:
  • soak the tort in warm water for a bit
  • scrub the entire shell with a toothbrush
  • rinse in warm water
  • use the toothbrush again, but this time with betadine (the brown liquid in a bottle from a drugstore) on the affected area
  • rinse again
  • finish off a rubdown of the entire shell with athlete's foot cream (dollar store stuff is fine)
  • reapply the athlete's foot cream every few days for 10 days or so, and then allow the shell to regrow
That should take care of things for you.

Shell fungus is very, very uncommon on most tortoises except Redfoot.
And this IS shell fungus.
What substrate are you using? This is almost certainly caused by sitting in urine or sleeping in a wet area.
