Good ol texas tort. gopherus berlandieri.

Did she find it or buy it? Its not legal to personally posses them in Texas without a permit for individual persons or for non commercial organizations, you can have 6. But if its just her she needs to apply for a permit or take it back to where she got it from if she found it.

The Texas tortoise doesn't have a nuchal scute. I was going with desert tortoise, however the front leg scales are too rough. Might it possibly be a Chaco? I know the chaco is lighter in color. Maybe its a cross between a Texas and a desert.

He's 12 yrs old and that's how long she's had him. Her friend got him and her one from a breeder in Arizona..

She's had him since he was a hatchling

Way too large for a chaco. Also the gular does not protrude on chacos. Looks just like my texas torts, just younger. Not a bolsen either.
