Is this kit any good? Anyone use this one or something like it? It says 3' deep but would it work not as deep.

You might do better with a company called fountains n slate or rockees fountain and slate,they have many types of small pumps more suitable shallow water. Their prices a very low and a sale is on...the pump you are showing looks too powerful and needs to be submerged completely...I think your looking for something for your young redfoots,yea?

Yes, if that is a submersible pump, then it has to be deep enough for it to be completely under water with a few inches clearance.

Have you seen the nice thread 'DIY Tortoise Pond' in this section of TFO?

I kind of like this set up too (for box turtles, but similar concept);

Thanks. I just happened to see it was on sale. I figured it needed to been fully submerged but wanted to check

But it could work if you created a false floor with the pump underneath, similar to the link?
