Well the vet visit did not go well😞 found a large stone and his intestines are floating up by the top of his shell he is full of gas probably from the last meal he ate. Also his lower half is obscured not sure if it’s free fluid. I live in Grants Pass not tortoise vets here. They did give me numbers for vets up north he has a appointment first thing tomorrow in Corvallis

If you can get him in a huge container, fill with warm water enough that he has to keep moving, it might help relieve the gas. Do not leave unattended at all.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I am writing this with a broken heart. We took Sheldon the vet in Corvallis Eastgate animal clinic. Sheldon condition had deteriorated so much he was no longer trying to move around and would moan. Our options were to try and do surgery but all the Specialist that could do it were either off or had Covid the certified Tortoise surgeon in Portland had Covid and couldn’t do it until Nov 6th or we could drive him up to Seattle the the emergency clinic up there. We felt Sheldon would not be able to make that long drive not to mention surving the surgery itself. We did not want him to suffer anymore. We had him put to sleep. This was the worst day of my life. The sad thing is we had no warning that he had a stone. He had been soaked 2x a day for 4 years we watched him actually drink from his water dish and he peed all the time. He was a healthy well love tortoise and will be greatly missed. Thank you to all how have helped over the year

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like Sheldon had a very good life with you and he was fortunate that you valued his quality of life. Those of us who love our animals know what a hard decision you had to make.

Ah heck! I'm so very sorry it came to that. Those darned stones. You do everything right and still the stones develop. Dang it anyway!
